REPORTER: So you say you want a revolution? Well, here’s your chance.

A Texas State based theatre troupe has started in hopes to allow local students express themselves, stirring a revolt in the process.

BROLL: [LUKE LEADING MEETING FOOTAGE]

REPORTER: Luke Jenkins is a student at Texas State who started Troupe of the Revolt, after an experience he had at the school’s quad.

[INTERVIEW FOOTAGE]

LUKE: “I walked by and saw these religious people, y’know, the ones who tell people extremely negative things. And I thought that it just wasn’t a good use for the quad. We could be using this space for something so much better.”

[INTERVIEW FOOTAGE]

LUKE: “I started out as a BFA in the productions and performance major, and it can be difficult because it’s very much tailored to use our main stage. So it can be hard for the vast number of productions and performance majors because they don’t get into the main stage shows, or a lot of the shows, so there’s just not a lot of opportunity for the amount of artists we have.”

REPORTER: There are tons of artists, too. From costume artists, [TESSA DRAWING FOOTAGE] to writers, [RYAN WRITING FOOTAGE] to actors, [JORDAN SPEAKING FOOTAGE] to graphic designers, [ANDREA ON WEBSITE FOOTAGE] you’ll find everything you’re looking for in Troupe of the Revolt.

REPORTER: Feel free to join the revolt on Thursdays at 5pm in the Honors College Coffee Forum.
